Just thought it may be good to have a section here for past residents of Jamestown.
Whether to catch up with old mates/family, or just to keep in touch with current events in the town.
Myself and my hubby lived in Jamestown in '93-97, and loved every minute of it.
We miss it greatly, and have fond memories.

We keep up to date via a few friends who still live there, and occasionally get the Jamestown Journal sent to us.

Anyway, great to see this site up and running!!!  Grin

Welcome utegirl70!  Grin
I no longer live in Jamestown myself but I still look forward to the Jamestown Journal each month. Gotta love the "From Our Past" section - I really get a kick out of the 100+ year old stuff. I last lived there in the early 70's but still get the chance to catch up will old schoolmates at the High School reunions.

Your idea to use the forum for past residents to stay in touch is just great!  Let's hope we get a few more in here so we can talk old times   Cheesy

I'll make this topic a Category! - (Done and moved these posts to new Category).

Cheers Mark..

it's always good to catch up on the goss, and now I can do it here instead of waiting for the Journal!

Hope alot more people find out about this site...

Ok, I have a couple of quick questions to start off-
1. Is Dr Shephard still working in J/town?
2. What's happened to the old Foodtown now it's moved to the old CFS site?

Yeah, we REALLY should come back for a visit to see what's been going on... it's been WAAAAAY too long.  Embarrassed

Hi utegirl70,
Shep went overseas for a while but I think he's back in Aus. Not sure where but maybe someone else could tell us (or I could find out from my Sis who lived nearby to Shep and hosted his 60th (I think that was his age?). What a great guy and great Doctor - takes me back to the days of Luke Vercoe.

As for the Foodtown, I know something new is coming but am not sure when/what's happening - hopefully the locals will tell us!  As for me I go back to the days of the Black and White Cafe & Mrs Webb's lolly shop!

Hey, utegirl70,
Hows about getting your old mates in Jamestown to join the chat! (or you can just private message them if you prefer).  The more the merrier - lets hope a few brave locals show up!

Maybe this is the place we can arrange a REUNION!

Cheers

Yes, I heard he had gone OS..and that he returned to Jamestown, but haven't heard any latest news in about 2 years.
He was definately a fantastic doctor.. I know some people didn't fancy his bedside manner, but each to their own... he was great with me,and my family. He pretty much saved my life in one way or another(wont go into details).

The Black & White Cafe!!!!! OMG... we LOVED that place! Leon & Jenny wasn't it? Their Pork Riblets were to die for!  Grin

Thanks for the info, every little snippet counts hey.

I'll see what I can do about rounding up some more members.. I'm not too sure if the people I keep in contact with have a computer! lol..

Cheers yet again, I'm enjoying this place.   Smiley

That's great utegirl70... Thanks
Are you a long way away?  I'm in Adelaide and only get up there a couple of times a year now. Last few visits have been for funerals  Sad - not much fun really.

South of Adelaide.. McLaren Vale area. Beautiful part of the country.

We'd like to get up there more often, but it never seems to happen.
We were hoping to make it for the Jamestown Show(a fave), but we were moving house.

Hooo Boy!!! You are old. Grin

The Webb family were legends in that shop, every day Mr. Webb would bring in the milk and fresh vegetables from Bundaleer Gardens. I just loved the smell of the place when you walked in.

I'm sure we used to drive the staff mad with our lolly selection, we new all of  the prices by heart, but never the less always asked, "How many of them for a penny,.... No, no I don't want them, what about the mint leaves"?

Imagine wiping those sticky fingerprints of the glass display case 100 times a day? Hehe.

hahaha unfortunately i'm not that old.....i was just a babe in the pram sitting in "nana's" shop whilst she chased the other grandies around with the broom  Grin i have a very early memory though of the milkshakes made from grandpa's cows milk.  The shop closed down while i was a youngen, but still hear plenty of people talking about it and the milkshakes.

All I can say is that you are a very fortunate person to have had such lovely Grandparents. Nell had the patience of a saint with us kids.

They definitely made the best milkshakes in Jamestown, possibly all of SA, with plenty of everything, when you bought a milkshake anywhere else you'd think "Where's the rest of it"?

Hi , yes I'm sure we would all like to see you back here in Jamestown. Unfortunately, I don't really move in the circles where I might find out much in the way of employment. Never the less, if I should find something I will certainly let you know.

Embarrassed Erm.... sorry Ray, but the "Other Half" just kidnapped my puta and decided to post a message to you via here..only he didn't realise that I am always logged in.
I suggested to him to perhaps sign up if he wishes to post!

Sorry for that.. so I deleted his post.
