"I'm Bored"

« on: 30 January, 2012, 09:13:12 PM »

Several weeks (months) ago "Cableguy" gave us the newest addition to our family, today we had our first harvest.

I'm wondering if I'll now be eligible for a tax refund on my diesel for the ute?

Yesterday TLW murdered Tommy Tomato in cold blood (juice),... and stored his dismembered remains in our fridge. She stated that he tasted lovely on a salad sandwich,... Gross!!

His siblings are being urged to ripen quickly, as TLW liberally sprinkles tomato food on them.

I must say old chap, this looks like a lovely tomato, and I must say, it has sparked ones interest in growing a garden, is it too late to grow tomatoes now, and if so would anyone know where one could procure some homegrown tomatoes such as this lovely specimen.

I'm afraid we only have one bush and are still waiting for the next fruit to ripen. We started very late, purely as a result of one of my mad mates who knowing that I have the original "Brown Thumb" dropped off one lonely plant. For a long while it made no progress whatsoever having only one miniature tomato, then several weeks later we discovered several others, all in varying stages of development, we are now waiting to see if they will ripen.

My mate had plenty earlier, but because he planted much earlier, his fruit have now all but finished, most having been made into Sauce and Relish. I think that the local season has all but finished, but I'll ask if he has a any to spare.

You can buy fresh home grown vegetables at Brogan Road just off the Whyte Yarcowie Road across from the pumping station on the east side of Jamestown.  Worth a visit .

I am standing in one of my tomato patches, and the plant to the right is 2.5 mtrs high.

As a addition to my previous post, I have now included a photo of some tomatoes which I have entered in this years "Jamestown Tomato Growing Champion Trophy" the biggest tomato I have had this season is just over 14 ozs.

Anyone can enter. The prize is your name on a perpetual trophy, and all you have to do is lodge a photo on the site and give its weight. Dont be scared off by my tomatoes, there are runner-up prizes, plus a rookie prize.
