I don't know what happened to the horse, I've looked at the old papers and allI can find is the report of the crime, but nothing about the trial.  A.A.H. Alchin was Allan's dad and Heather's grandfather as Allan would only have been six years old when this happened.

You are showing your age Di,  Wink I often look back on things that I thought happened only recently, to find that it was 20-30 years ago.

It would have been Albert Anthony Hatwood Alchin born in 1888, Sooooo he would have been 24.

Brother to Heathers Father Alan, Uncle Wilf and my Grandfather William (Bill) plus 8 others.

Is it as HOT up your way as it is here, 2 days hot 3 days freezing cold back to hot around and around we go can not keep up.

I'll need to lift my game Di,... you are right. A.A.H. was the eldest of William and Annie's 10 children. I should have checked my own records Embarrassed (most of which came from you anyway).

I took that photo last night as the clouds started to come in from the east, it was looking much blacker than it does in the photo and I guess that was because the sun was shining from under the clouds.  I wanted to get the brightly lit trees against the black background. We then got about a dozen large spots of rain and i thought that we might be in for a rough night, but it came to nothing.

The last few days have been really humid and sticky although not all that hot, maybe 30-36 degrees. Never the less, I'm glad i can get in out of it and sit inside in the air conditioning.

Jim Rundle.

Years ago whilst working in the Highways Dept, a lady came upto Port Augusta to attend a conference.
I got talking to her and her maiden name was Rundle, a relation of Jims'.
Her husband worked for Channel 7 and they shifted upto Brisbane.
You just NEVER know!

He was the eldest son, Charlotte was the eldest then Alice and then Albert.
I have probably done more since I gave you that research, I don't bother anymore because it's all on the internet now generations of it.

What picture are you talking about Ray ?
I don't know what it got to here yesterday, it showed 41 at the vet they have a huge sign out front that tells the time and what the temp is. It's not much better today.

You are right Dyke you never know. I was at a neighbours place awhile back and the Avon lady came in we got talking and she ask if I was local, I told her that I was born in Jamestown and she said her husband came from their he was a Redden, can't recall which one now.

you would not believe how many people live in the Mount from Jamestown, or have lived here.

Many years ago when I was promoting one of the record retailers in the Mount, we had a singer here as a guest speaker and he had just released a new record we got talking and yes he had spent many of his younger years in Jamestown and was born in Peterborough.

You only have to mention the name at a function or some place and there is always someone in the crowd that pops up and knows someone from Jamestown, or has lived their, or was born their. Gives you a bit of a buzz when you get talking and someone knows someone you know or are related to someone you know from home.

... 41 in the Mount?...  It would be like living in a Turkish steam bath? It hasn't been over 36 here since last Tuesday. Yesterday was warm enough but there was a nice cool southerly breeze if you were out of the sun.

About 5:00pm I took a photo of the rain clouds approaching and the sun was low enough to be shining under the clouds making the trees look really bright green. I put it in the general discussion topic, but here it is again anyway.

The clouds don't look anywhere near as black in the photo because the sun is shining underneath them. Like so many photos they don't quite look as good as the real thing. I guess i could always fiddle with it in PhotoShop.

Guess what we just had a shower of rain, now we will  have a steam bath.

That's a nice clean photo, the street is so neat and the houses look as though they have all had a face lift.
Have a car it's worse than my street, has every one got one that lives in the houses kids and all.

That was the main reason i took the photo, the dark sky made such a dramatic backdrop for the brightly lit houses and trees.

At least three of those vehicles belong to a house where the driveway is too narrow to drive through or park in.  When you look at the sizes and variation in block widths, all I can think is that the surveyor must have had a long lunch at one of the local pubs. I guess wide driveways weren't nearly as important back in the days when you were lucky to own a horse and sulky.

I was thinking what I wrote the other day about Albert Alchin and when I checked I still have it wrong and YOU didn't pick it up either.
It was My Grandmother's Brother not my Grandfather, William Alchin was their Father I will get it right soon. Sorry.

DAIRY

Got talking to some "Oldies" and they did confirm that there was a Dairy opposite the cemetery.
It was McDougals.
