The numbers here aren't high, but it would be nice to have a buy/sell/trade forum, and perhaps the same forum would be good to post info about local businesses.

I haven't lived here long but I have noticed a LOT of people work from home and don't advertise much and it would be nice to collect all that together somewhere.

I'll run this past Adminer. The reason being that I'm not exactly sure what format it should take and any possible implications of advertising Goods for sale etc.

The idea of small businesses, particularly those working from home, having a place to advertise their goods and services is a good one. I think that the main thing would be to ensure that the Owner/operator of the site was not seen as an "agent" for any sales but merely as a provider of advertising space.

It's underway!...

There should be a new Heading appearing soon, we'll just have to give Adminer a couple of days as he is pretty well involved in another project at the moment.

So now its set up ...

I'm working on another site in my spare time that is not Jamestown specific but is a regional classifieds site that you can pick Jamestown (or any area) and the entire rest of Australia goes away as you go look through the site. But you can also filter by slightly larger areas, like you could say "Mid North SA" or "Jamestown and Gladstone and Laura". You can list stuff on it purely locally or you can list so the entire of Australia sees your listing, and any level in between.

Its got cars, real estate, dating, general Stuff and business listings. I'm hoping to put it up for general messing around with within a fortnight and get it live a bit later. It'll be free for people with lower volume and $20 a month for a business level listing, which would be good for things like real estate agents, car yards, basically anyone who wants to list a lot of Stuff and pitch it at people in the regions. No per-item % taken off like eBay, just a flat fee.

Anyone *cough* Ray *cough* want to have an account on it when its up to kickstart it by helping me add local businesses for this general area? Sure, can wait for the businesses to add themselves but honestly, that's not going to happen.

I'm just sick of bigger sites like Gumtree pretty much having two regions - metro and everywhere else. Sure there's not many of us out here, but they do make it harder, not easier.

Why not?....  Anything to help a local business.

If your other sites are anything to go by, it will be very well put together and well run.

Its been online for about 10 minutes now lol ... still missing quite a few features but its 'functional'

http://regionalads.com.au/

If you're logged in you can save an area (eg Jamestown, centre of the universe) but you can't do that when you're not logged in yet. Have to wait on that feature Smiley
