Speaking to Troy yesterday, I was informed that there would be a lot going on next week. A start will be made on the old overgrown back yard, with some earthmoving and leveling being done also the old rear stairway will be removed. Hopefully I will be available to get some good shots of the work in progress, also during the past week the ceilings in the Bars and lounge area have all been removed and new timberwork put in place for the new ceilings. I will get some photos of this at the same time.
The only possible fly in the ointment for me may be that I will have to go to Adelaide on one day next week to take TLW down to the airport. We'll see what happens,....

If you have been through Irvine street today no doubt you will realise that things are really starting to happen in the old pub. last week the ceeilings on the ground floor were all looked at closely, especially around the rear of the building where there have been many alterations and additions over the last 60+ years. The ceing in the back hallway was opened up so that the undersides of the box gutter could be examined, also ceilings in the Bar areas and Lounge have been removed and re timbered where necessary. The photos will be a bit higgledy piggledy so that I can fit them neatly on the page. The Rear Hallway The start of modifications to the street entance to the old Lounge Bar The wall seen at the rear of this photo, between the old Saloon Bar and the mens toilet is being demolishedMore coming,....

Not a great deal of change to see today, the main work having been the placement of the Redgum support posts for the covering of the outdoor Beer Garden area. A low stone retaining wall will then be built to support the earth behind. The concrete work has been delayed until Thursday because of the weather.

The concrete footings for the retaining wall have hardened up enough that further work has been able to be done putting the overhead beams into place. Below are two views showing the progress to date. Yesterday Mick and Ben were preparing the beams to accept the rafters that will span between them to support the roof.

Just a quick couple of odd photos showing the progress of the work in the Beer Garden/Outdoor area and the old hot water calorifier that was removed from the small shed at the Northern end of the Kitchen wing, andis being looked at as a potential outdoor heater. It's original site may be seen in the photos in the previous post, where the smoke stained wall is seen next to the Bobcat. Mick and Ben have done a very tidy job of setting the rafters into the heavy beams. I must admit that this area is really starting to show it's potential when you compare it with earlier photos, I think that the old heavy timber complements the old stone buildings really well.

Sorry Troy, I missed this post. From what I have been told, there will be a manager appointed once it's ready to open, no doubt he/she will be the person to see when the time comes. I will certainly let you know if I hear anything in the meantime.

Troy and his crew are back on the job. They have been trying to get up here since December, but current business pressures have made it impractical, as I'm sure you all understand, the money making side of the company takes precedence over this project. Work has commenced cutting out the bottom of an old window to make a new doorway from the Dining Room out to the Patio/Beer Garden area, also the internal window and door frames have been removed in preparation for new doors and fitted glass panels. I returned this morning because the sun gave me a lot more light, and took these two shots. (Yes, I know, I need a decent flash unit) Two views of the same job from both inside the Dining Room and the lounge area. In the photo on the right you can see the first of the new doors being fitted between the lounge and outdoor area.
