I would be interested if anyone has any information about William Alfred Field.
He was born in Adelaide in 1883 and was a trapper in Jamestown before going to the WW1 where he was killed at Bullencourt on 11 April 1917. He was the only one from his family to go to Jamestown. There may have been a reason for this as the State Children's Department placed him with a Mrs. Thomas and his "time" was up in 1896 when he was "at present in the Country". I don't know if this was Jamestown.

He married Lillian Charlotte Nellie Hardie on 3 March 1915 in the St. James Church. (noted in my records as Church of England which would someone deny or confirm).

I have no information if he lived in the town or was an itinerant in the district.

I do not know if the Hardie Family was living in Jamestown.

ALL information would help
regards
Dennis

Hello Dennis, and Welcome to the JamestownEvents Forum.

I will make some enquiries for you, it may take a few days or so.

There have been several Thomas families in the district, and at least one of them is still here. I have not run across the names Hardie or Field as yet, but I will see what I can find out.

Added 9:30pm 29/1/2011:  Dennis I have found your enquiries on various web sites and it appears that you are obviously a long way ahead of myself, never the less I will leave my findings to date posted here in case it jogs someone's memory. So far I can find nothing else on William and Lillie regarding their time in this area, I'll keep looking and asking though.

I'm not finding much linking William or Lillie to Jamestown except their marriage, but this is more of what i have found so far.

It would appear that those listed below are the siblings of William Alfred Field

Hello Ray,
I do have some information on the Field Family but there is much still to uncover.
Nothing is known of William's time in Jamestown nor the history of the Hardie Family and anything about Mrs Thomas would add colour to the family history

Thank you for taking the time to have a look at my post.

regards with thanks
