My apologies for taking so long to put this up. The opening of the Barbara Parri collection went off very well, with 40 - 50 interested persons attending.
Three of Barb's nieces and their families were there to take part, telling us all something of their memories relating to Barb, and also explaining the significance of the cake knife bought along to cut the cake. The knife was first used to cut the wedding cake of Edwin and Ellen Medlin in 1885 and has been kept in the family to be used on significant occasions over the years.
Here we see the calke being cut to mark the occasion of the opening of the collection by one of Barb's nieces.
This is the main collection, over 200 typed and many times updated, volumes of local history and newspaper clippings.
