We miss your input Di, but feel better knowing that it's for a good cause.

We'll still be here when you are ready. Grin

I've been absent too, as we are doing up the Kitchen/Dining area and it is a huge job, old houses are hard to work on at times and by the end of the day I'm ready to go to sleep in front of the TV. Hopefully we will be finished by wWenesday or Thursday next week.

It was the radio station he said can I talk to you , yes I said then he says give me a minute and way he went starting to ask about the Auction. THEN suddenly it hit me, are you on AIR yes he says no no I said, he comes back to me laughing his head off, then said who can I talk to so Stupid Dianne is still in a daze gives him Beths phone number I hang up head inside and the phone ring hello I said hello Beth and we both start laughing I gave him my own phone number. It sounds like you are doing a great job Di, I'm amazed at what you have been able to do, it sounds like you have done an enormous amount of work, I hope that it all comes together without any more stress and you have a great sale.

Talking of radio stations, last saturday, TLW and I went over to Port Pirie to attend the official opening of the new Trax FM 105.1 broadcast studio.  We have both been fans of this station for a number of years, as they play "real" music  Grin.

It was a great morning getting to put faces to all of the people that we hear on air and also those behind the scenes.  I was amazed at how few people there were to produce such a lot of broadcast material. The studios were on computer content for the morning, so that all of us rubber neckers  could take a wander through the complex, I was lucky enough to locate Graham, the station technician who gave me an fantastic tour with lots of explanation, showing how they set up their programming and cross over between the various services, satellite and outside broadcast etc. Below we see Graham in the Main Studio (Off Air) explaining about the move into the new building with all of the things that had to be considered, he was an excellent host and unlike many of his kind, he was able to explain things in layman's language, altogether a really interesting bloke who obviously "lived for his involvement in the station. While this was going on, the production studio at the other end of the building was actually being used to put the programs to air.

Once again I got home and gave myself a mental "kick in the bum", as I had my camera with me, but got so interested in what was being said that I never took many photos. The shot below was taken as we were leaving, well after the formalities were completed. The new broadcast facility is in the Administration buildings of the old Port Pirie Council Depot.

SORRY dianne48, but I HAVE read it.

It warrants a really good comeback, so I will need to have a senior's moment & think about what needs to be said!!

Ray, if we had our health we would be back at Jamestown and in the old Station house like a rocket.
We had some great times in that house, it was really nice in it's day. The last time we seen it it had gone to the pack and it looked so baron no plants around it looked as if no one had lived in it for years, but I did hear it was all done up.
Have you any recent pics of it ?

Yes Di, the Haskard family were gone by the time I arrived in Jamestown, Stan Haskard owned the Tinsmiths and Tankmakers which was later taken over by Brian Glasson.  There is a photo in Leith Cooper's book showing the "Searchlight" brand acetylene gas generator that they manufactured, used to light homes prior to WWII.

Both Rex and Craig Haskard were up for the High School reunion they attended the School from 1935 - 1938.

 Ray,
I thought that  it was previously Glassons, but as you get older you seem to doubt yourself especially when you don't live in the town anymore. Thank you for that ,it was great to see the photo you have put up. Well done Mr. Information.

Mr. Information,

Can you tell me which Chemist shop H. Heuzenroeder had as my Nan worked at Boweys for many years and I don't recall her mentioning that name. She always talked about Mr. and  Mrs. Wheeler. Who was probably around the 40s or 50s.
Perhaps he had Brian Williams as I hardly ever ventured there.
 I found a R.M.T. Cox in Boweys in 1936.
See how good you are. Huh
If there is anyone else out there who has any information please add your comments
