A glider which had taken off from the Jamestown Airstrip, crashed in a paddock just North of Jamestown.
The pilot was killed.
The paddocks were either Hall's or Coleman's?

The local policeman had to guard the wreck over night.

I remember two local lads trying to access the site (at night) but were hunted off.

I seem to remember reading about that somewhere quite a few years ago (late 60s ??). What I can't work out is where he took off from, as the old airstrip at the racecourse was no longer in use and the present one hadn't been started.

He took off from the existing airstrip.
