After rescuing the paper from a 5cm deep puddle in the driveway and placing it near the heater to dry out, I went and had a look at the rain gauge to find 35.7mm in it at 09:00am.

Wow! We had only 20mm at 9 am. But it has been raining ever since. The last shower was really heavy.

We have had another 23.4mm between 9:00am and 5:45pm, so we've had 235 points in the old money.

I went for a drive around the town a few minutes ago , just to see how much water was laying about. Unfortunately it was raining the whole time, making it almost impossible to get any good photos without having an underwater housing on my camera. There's more water laying about than I have seen for many years, and the creek is running down across the ford just South of the town, something else that has not happened for a number of years.

Hmph. At 9am this morning we have had 32mm over the past 48 hours with only another 2mm today up until 5pm. In only a few km's it is just about double.
What road is the above photo taken on?

This is the creek crossing on the continuation of South Terrace heading down towards the diagonal road out to the Golf course.

Yesterday (Wednesday) we had 3.6mm, and another 3mm this morning, although we are still 70mm below the monthly average, I don't think that anyone is too worried as yet, what rain we are getting is ideally timed.

Today, well actually this morning, until 2.00pm 22 mm has fallen in our gauge. The biggest single daily rain event since late May. Just what we needed.

You've done really well, we only had 12.7mm (1/2"), but as you say it was really well timed. I went up onto the back block this morning and there was plenty of water laying around, we've had several showers since, but I haven't looked at the gauge again yet. I don't want to scare it away.

23.8mm at 9:00am. What a pity I haven't got my second rainwater tank in place, we've got aver 1000 gallons of lovely rainwater running into the gutters for every 1" (25.4mm) of rain that we get. Other than that, it's lookin' goooood,......

I was quite surprised when I went and looked at the rain gauge this morning, I new it had been damp, and I expected to see a two or three millimetres, but to my surprise there was 11.8mm, definitely worth having. As a result of this I finally got around to making up a spreadsheet showing the rainfall for the year. This shows the individual recordings and below we see the progressive total for the year.

We had 15.9mm in the gauge this morning at 9:00am, and it looks as if we will have more than that tomorrow as we have had some really heavy showers this afternoon.

Another 17.3 this morning at 8:30 giving us a total of 33.2 for the last two days. I believe that our annual rainfall is supposed to be 470mm, so we have now surpassed that with 471.4mm so far, or 18.55 inches for those of us still stuck in the good old days
