It's not 9:00am yet, but i doubt that we'll get any more rain before that time, so I read the gauge and found 8.5mm this morning. Smiley

Not bad,...

We had 6.5mm  at 9:00am, plus another 3mm yesterday.

It must have the farmers smiling, but unfortunately the rain plus the blustery conditions are making it hard for the competitors in the Mural Competition.

We've just had 15 mm rain in about 30 mins from about 6.50pm. Too quick for some of the gutters, they overflowed!

Yes,... we had 10mm here in a similar amount of time.

The neighbour's tank overflow blew off the drain line and flooded our back yard just outside the back door. No one was home over there, so I had to dig out my old oilskin coat and a helmet (the only waterproof hat I own) and go over and replace the joint in the 100mm drain line in the middle of it all.

I hope that the bosses husband hasn't got any hay cut?

We've had a good drop of rain again, although I'm thinking that it is perhaps time it stopped.

One of the ladies in Foodland who lives at Gladstone was saying that her husband had moved his plant into the paddocks on Monday afternoon, ready to commence reaping.

We recorded 16.2mm yesterday and a further 4.5mm this morning.

Another 3.3mm this morning.

I know it's not 9:00am yet, but I can't see us having any more before then the skies are almost clear Wink

Hmmmm, I'm getting sick of this weather. We had 7mm in the gauge this morning and 2mm the day before.

Another 8.5mm  this morning, and it's still raining very softly.

You call this softly? I'm about to break out the ark. Our tank will overflow and we don't have overflow pipes to the street yet!

Hmmmm, Yes,....  it was a bit of an understatement, although it was only very gentle rain when I actually made the post, but it has hardly stopped since.

We (yes, both of us) just looked at the gauge a few moments ago and found that we've had another 6.8mm by 4:30pm.

We had 3.8mm in our gauge at 9:00am.

Not very good for those still reaping, although I understand that a few have finished in the last few days or so.

A nice little shower at about 9:30pm.

It flooded our yard and was within a few centimetres of coming under the back door. We went up and checked the gauge to find that the inner gauge was overflowing and it has a capacity of about 25.8mm plus there were possibly another 2 mm in the outer casing. There were only 5.8 mm in the gauge prior to the shower, so I'd estimate that in the 10-12 minutes we had about 22mm of rain

We had a total of 35.5mm until 9:00am

I remarked to TLW that this weather was "ratty" whereupon she pointed out to me that, No, it was not unusual, as only last year on the 6th and 7th December we had 22.3 and 35.2mm respectively.

Yesterday, (18th Dec) I was reliably informed that a rainfall reading of 143mm was recorded (563 points) at the home of Nigel Bottrall (Bruce Graefe's old place) on the night of 17/18th Dec. That would have to be some sort of local record I think.

Nigel was subsequently interviewed by the ABC  radio at Midday today.

We had about 63 ml, with jagged, spikey hailstones almost golf ball size.  Smashed holes in the perspex on the pergola and screens on the north windows. Shredded quite a few garden plants.
